CryEngine 3 is now available for all developers
The latest all-in-one development solution CryENGINE 3, according to the announcements of Crytek, is now available for all developers. This engine is the first of its kind game development platform for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3, the MMO, and DX9/DX10 that also is truly Next-Gen-Ready. It has scalable computation and graphics for all the big upcoming platforms.
CryEngine 3 provides complete gaming engine that will help in creating AAA quality next generation games. It also includes the CryENGINE 3 Sandbox™ level editor. Apart from this it also has a production-proven 3rd generation “What you see is what you play” (WYSIWYP) - tool that is designed by and for professional developers.
This newly launched engine even introduces CryENGINE 3 Live Create™. This will allow the developers to work with a single editor and at the same time to also see and play the results in real-time on the PC, the PS3 and also the Xbox360.
CryEngine 3 also takes care of the conversion and optimization of assets in real-time. It enables immediate cross-platform changeover to any part of game creation and hence it materially increases the speed, the quality and also it reduces significantly the risk of multiplatform development.
CryEngine 3 now available for developers to license
Official announcement of Crytek came that their CryEngine’s third version technology is now available for developers to license for their own project development. This version of the CryEngine can run on the PC giving a DirectX 9 and 10 supports and also for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles.

Crytek says that this third version of the CryEngine is next-generation-ready. They claim that this engine offers the developers to get the ability to scale up to forthcoming gaming platforms. For Crytek while making this engine, scalability was an important goal and they claim that the company has delivered on this with the ability of the engine to scale well across all the supported platforms.
The Crysis 2 is in the development stage using this new engine, but which other titles might be using this engine technology is not clear from the Crytek end till now. Well, there is leaked information that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, development by GSC Game World, may be using this new engine.
Earlier versions of the CryEngine of Crytek have powered titles such as Fry Cry, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Aion, and Merchants of Brooklyn.
Crytek sponsors All-Russian Conference on Game Industry 2009
Crytek announced recently in Moscow of its participation in sponsor the All-Russian Conference on Game Industry (ACGI) 2009.
ACGI is supported by the Russian Government. It is aimed to unite companies from the game and multimedia Industry of Russia and also to create a communication platform where official organizations and business representatives can meet of the international gaming industry.
Crytek is the Gold sponsor of ACGI and also it has, in association ACGI organizing committee, created the program of special entrance tickets that is in discounted price for the Russian developers. So, more developers can check in to the conference and also take participate in master classes, sessions etc.
